Until FDA and society is ready to investigate the link between antidepressants and suicide and violence. We will keep finding ourselves asking the question why?

I was intimately involved helping get blackbox suicide warnings on the drugs in 2004 and 2006 after the death of my husband. He was given Zoloft for insomnia and hung himself 5 weeks after given the drug. He was not depressed or have history of depression. The only medication on was Zoloft. We also had a lawsuit to get documents out from under seal. The FDA, Pfizer and other drug companies have long known about risk.

Did you know Pfizer helped create a Zoloft Prosecutor Manual in 1993 to be used in cases where someone claimed a Zoloft defense?

Who knew there was a 1991 fda hearings on the link between the emergence of suicide and violence on Prozac? The FDA did nothing and virtually all members of fda committee got funding from companies making these drugs.

Of the nearly 410 psychiatric drug warnings today, 27 warn of violence, aggression, hostility, mania, psychosis or homicidal ideation and 49 warn of self-harm or suicide/suicidal ideation.

Every time there is another mass shooting or high-profile murder/suicide, society keeps asking why and guns are often pinned as the culprit. It is high time that we seek to try understanding what may be behind these acts of violence in our communities. Could they be connected to the dangerous side effects associated with psychotropic drugs?

I am heartbroken for the families and fear for our society. We should all want to at least investigate because anyone of us could be the next sitting ducks.

William Walsh and colleagues studied 50 school shooters and concluded that 42 fit a particular pattern of metabolic disorder and psychiatric drug history. The 42 were in Walsh's category of "low folate depressives", which Walsh also describes as "overmethylators." SSRIs can be helpful for undermethylators, but they make overmethylators worse. The pattern Walsh saw was that each of these 42 kids had become depressed, and had been taken to a doctor and put on an SSRI. The depression didn't improve, so the kid was taken back to the doctor, who raised the dose of the SSRI. And then the kid went berserk and shot up a school.

Walsh's book "Nutrient Power: Heal Your Biochemistry and Heal Your Brain" is excellent if you want to understand Walsh's decades-long research on metabolic/biochemical factors in mental illness and his protocols for correcting brain chemistry using individualized programs of nutritional supplements. Unfortunately, he doesn't describe his school shooter study in the book.. He discusses it briefly in a presentation titled "Advanced Nutrient Therapies for Brain Disorders" which you can find at this youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHT3iN_jJfc

In the mid 90’s I had a young kid in my pharmacy who was in absolute agony. He was from out of town, and he had run out of Paxil two days prior. He was twitchy, sweaty, and in obvious abdominal distress. He looked like he was in opioid withdrawal, to be blunt. He asked me to call his doctor to get an emergency supply of Paxil. In Utah at the time, I could not help him on my own authority because he was not my established patient. So I called and called for him to no avail. Finally I got his physician and told him what I wanted. This ignoramus could have just said, “Yeah, give him ten to get him home” and we would all have been happier. Instead, he gave me a five-minute lecture on how Paxil had no withdrawal syndrome and I should not be practicing medicine without a license. I said, “So the question is, Can I dispense for your patient?” He just about screamed, “Go ahead, dammit!” I got his info and before I hung up, I said, “BTW doc, Paxil’s withdrawal syndrome is very well-documented. So maybe you should learn something about drugs before you prescribe them.” I was never, ever harsh with any healthcare professional, but this guy irked me.

Along with vaccines and statins, SSRI's are another big pharma criminal fraud.

You are right to re-publish this piece as this is yet another taboo or non-investigated story at least among our Cracker Jack mainstream journalists. I would note that Tucker Carlson has bravely made the same points on a few of his shows. So maybe a few more people are starting to connect some dots. (Just like the epidemic of autism being caused by ... what? Something caused it.)

On another substack a Dr was talking about having limited time with patients. My 10 year old niece tried to commit suicide twice since Covid. This hits me in the heart. Our whole health care system, education system needs to be revamped, along with our family values. Many children are latchkey, driven to activities, but not listened to.

The solution often now is lets medicate them. Really sad.

The interesting part of Psychiatry is that it has no working paradigm, because the last one, "chemical imbalance in the brain," was refuted about three or four years ago (around the time when the "cholesterol" fraud was also exposed).

Still, psychiatrists possess the power to destroy lives as representatives of a fake "science."

I could never understand the mass shooting phenomenon in the US, when it is not the only society with plenty of guns. The Swiss army is a militia and almost all adult males have to compete National service, upon completion of which they take their assault rifle and ammunition to keep at home. This means most homes in Switzerland have an assault rifle, rounds and someone trained how to use them. Yet they do not get mass shootings. Thanks Doc for an explanation.

It's so sad that Americans seem to have been totally captured by the pharmaceutical industry - most everybody seems to take medications for things that were illnesses in the past. I suspect that the UK (where I am) is gradually following suite even though we can't access medicines in the same way due to the NHS controlling them. Sadly, the NHS is busy falling under the same spell as the US health providers. These pharma companies are like Sauron spreading their darkness and evil over the world.

30 years ago I took antidepressants. I took Prozac and while taking it I was always tired and would stay awake long enough to run errands, clean house and prepare for the work week.

I complained to the doctor who put me on a different antidepressant (can't remember the name). I complained again and was switched to yet another. After a few weeks of taking the 3rd antidepressant I decided none of these drugs made a noticeable difference and the side effects such as chronic fatigue and weight gain were making me feel worse.

So the answer was I would just have to deal with depression. Only in the past few years have I read articles concluding these drugs have little to no benefit.

My fear is psychiatrists are complacent and prescribe these drugs rather than get to the heart of what is troubling a patient. Also they (along with the media, the government, the universities and medical institutions) are bribed by Big Pharma to do whatever maximizes profits for the pharmaceutical industry.

People in a conservancy (e.g. Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes) need proactive advocates. That means there should be a plan in place to help them get better and if goals are not met maybe it is time to get a new doctor and a new plan.

Why are there are so many psychiatrists, therapists, etc. and no one holds them to account for zero improvement in their patients?

We would not settle for that if we are treated for cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

I was recently prescribed Gabapentin for a sudden,

relatively minor medical issue. The doc made it a point to tell me that it was “well tolerated,” after I told her of my experiences with BP meds and getting side effects from every one of them (Lisinopril-terrible cough; Losartan-nausea; Norvasc-massively swollen ankles). Picked up the prescription and lo and behold: the VERY FIRST SIDE EFFECT on the handout was that it could cause suicidal thoughts, aggression, depression, etc. Needless to say, I refused to take any of them and on my follow-up visit, I am telling her why.

Not only do the meds make a person more psycho, but the underlying root cause is still there.

As far as I am concerned, separation from God is the root cause. Those seeking help for emotional problems should minimally, be in counseling if not seeking spiritual guidance/healing. Meds are absolutely disastrous as noted in the OP.

So, unaddressed emotional problems compounded with propaganda and poison chemicals leads us to this point.

From my blog yesterday (I would also like to advocate for fish oil, though the dose is considerably higher than most people want to take, about 15 mL per day, one tablespoon of Carlson liquid fish oil, daily for a month seems to benefit anybody who will keep taking it, in my experience.)

Gardening definitely helps, too, partly by improving your microbiome. This meta analysis looked at over 1000 review papers.

Study Confirms Physical Exercise Should Be First Choice For Mental Health Treatment

Anxiety is the most common problem—and seems to be becoming more pronounced among children and younger adults—while depression poses the greatest burden to normal life function.

The Australian researchers discovered that exercise provided the best results when used for treating depression. More specifically, exercise was 150 percent more effective than pharmaceuticals or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

It was also better than psychological consultation or “talk therapy.” In fact, exercise was shown to reduce depressive symptoms by 42 to 60 percent, whereas talk therapy and pharmaceuticals only reduced symptoms between 22 percent and 37 percent.

Exercise was shown to be the best treatment for both anxiety and depression, even though pharmaceuticals are the most commonly recommended treatment for both.

 Every kind of exercise worked.

Welcome to Orthomolecular.org http://orthomolecular.org/ ....................... amazing information going back decades of better medical treatments for depression, anxiety, viruses, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,

copied from the website home page..................

"Orthomolecular is a term that comes from ortho, which is Greek for "correct" or "right," and "molecule," which is the simplest structure that displays the characteristics of a compound. So it literally means the "right molecule."

Two-time Nobel Prize winner, and molecular biologist, Linus Pauling, Ph.D.,coined the term "Orthomolecular" in his 1968 article "Orthomolecular Psychiatry" in the journal "Science."

Orthomolecular medicine describes the practice of preventing and treating disease by providing the body with optimal amounts of substances which are natural to the body."

As the Illinois State Rifle Asociation notes, the Sandy Hook CT. shooter, Adam Lanza, not only came from a divorced family, but was “apparently a mentally ill young person whose wealthy family insulated him from reality until he decided to create his own reality – at the expense of more than two dozen innocent people. Laurie Higgins in the Illinois Family Association concurred with this report, noting that Lanza’s father (as well as an older brother) left when Adam was 16, and remarried a few years later. Reportedly, Adam Lanza had no contact with his father or brother since 2010. How did this affect Adam, and why is this not part of the “national debate” on violence? Even more importantly, a few days after the shooting, it was reported that Adam Lanza was on a violence-linked anti-psychotic drug called Fanapt, as reported at http://www.businessinsider.com/adam-lanza-taking-antipsychotic-fanapt-2012-12 or http://naturalsociety.com/predictions-confirmed-shooter-adam-lanza-was-on-violence-linked-anti-psychotic-fanapt/. The Fanapt story was later retracted, but family friend of the Lanzas, Louise Tambascio, stated during an interview with 60 Minutes that “I know he was on medication and everything, but she homeschooled him at home cause he couldn’t deal with the school classes sometimes, so she just homeschooled Adam at home. And that was her life.” http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/12/16/friends-newtown-gunmans-mother-home-schooled-son-kept-arsenal-of-guns/ Tambascio also told ABC News, “I knew he was on medication, but that’s all I know.” http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/12/16/friends-newtown-gunmans-mother-home-schooled-son-kept-arsenal-of-guns/ Lanza’s old babysitter, Ryan Kraft, also went on record as stating Lanza was taking medications of this sort early as age 10.

Maybe it’s time we had a national discussion about his cronies and lobbyists in Big Pharma, who seem to push kids into the latest drug du jour at the drop of a hat? Or doesn’t that fit his political agenda and his “never let a crisis go to waste” attitude? It is already on the labels themselves that drugs, like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, and Ritalin are causing people to commit violent acts (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QheBbuC5UU&feature=player_embedded#t=91s where a number of reputable psychiatrists comment on this issue). Read the documentation in the drug packages, or online, yourself – it’s right there in black and white. The top ten psychiatric prescription drugs linked to violence – as listed by Time Magazine - in a Jan. 7th, 2011 article at http://healthland.time.com/2011/01/07/top-ten-legal-drugs-linked-to-violence/#ixzz2FNH7YyEl - are the antidepressant/anti-anxiety drugs desvenlafaxine (Pristiq), venlafaxine (Effexor), fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Paxil), fluoxetine (Prozac), sleep aid Halcion, ADHD drug Strattera, several brands of amphetamines used to treat ADHD, the anti-malarial Lariam, and the anti-smoking medication Chantix. See also http://healthland.time.com/2011/01/07/top-ten-legal-drugs-linked-to-violence/#ixzz2G16Hp6aG. Of course James Holmes in the Colorado massacre was also on psychotropic drugs, including a generic version of Zoloft called Sertraline, as well as clonazepam see http://www.naturalnews.com/039796_James_Holmes_psychiatric_drugs_antidepressants.html or http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-james-holmes-documents-20130405,0,6067279.story.)

Yet a further analysis of the association of prescription drugs with violence and shootings, from Brandon Turbeville, is at http://www.thedailysheeple.com/psychiatric-drugs-school-violence-and-the-big-pharma-cover-up_012013, while internationally known psychiatrist Dr. David Healy agrees with the summary that these drugs cause violence – a Cliff Notes version of Healy’s sentiments is simply this: Psychotropic drugs “prescribed for school children cause violent behavior.” The non-Cliff Notes, detailed version of his rationale behind this may be found at http://www.wnd.com/2013/01/top-psychiatrist-meds-behind-school-massacres/ Healy has a website, RxISK.org, that allows people to post personal experiences with SSRIs, and is a data repository open to the public.

If anyone is wondering why the US leads in school gun murders, perhaps you might want to explore the relationship between drugging our kids and violence. Note that not only are school gun murders up, but youth suicides are up dramatically was well. This shouldn’t be surprising, of course, as both are cut from the same cloth – disinhibition, messing with brain function, disturbing the level of self-control, and more. Granting that correlation is not causation, Dr. Bertram Karon from Michigan State Univ. notes the US has six times as many children on Ritalin, around four million, as any other country, and all of France only has 8,000 kids, in total, on Ritalin, while his home city of Lansing Michigan, alone, has around that many. In fact, the US accounts for around 90% of Ritalin prescriptions in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujuDvwSOFto&sns=fb

We must fully consider the question of Todd Walker in his article, found at http://www.thedailysheeple.com/how-many-pills-until-pharmageddon_012013: “Can prescription drugs cause you to kill someone?” And the answer is “Absolutely”, per Dr. David Healy, author of Phamageddon.and quoted in the paragraph above. “Violence and other potentially criminal behavior caused by prescription drugs are medicine’s best kept secret…Want to find out if the drugs you or a loved one are taking might cause violent behavior? Enter the name of the drug over at the Violence Zone. Even if it’s ‘just a pill’ to help you quit smoking, side effects can be deadly. Don’t expect to hear about this on major media outlets. Pharmaceutical companies have a vested interest in keeping journalists in line.”

David Kupelian at WND also documents a horrifying number of shootings associated with psychotropic drugs at http://www.wnd.com/2013/01/the-giant-gaping-hole-in-sandy-hook-reporting/, including not only Columbine killer Eric Harris, who was on Luvox, but also: Patrick Purdy, who killed five children and wounded 30 in 1989, who was on amitriptyline and Thorazine, Kip Kinkle, who killed his parents, and 22 other fellow students, who was on Prozac and Ritalin; the 1988 Winnetka, IL. shooting by Laurie Dann, who killed one and wounded six while taking Anafranil and lithium; the 1997 Paducah KY school shooting by Michael Carneal, who shot and killed three while on Ritalin; the 2005 Jeff Wiese shooting, which killed nine and wounded 5 on the Red Lake Indian Reservation, which occurred while Wiese was on Prozac; the 1989 shooting of 20 co-workers, killing nine, by Joseph Wesbecker in Louisville, KY, while he was on Prozac – and which Eli Lilly settled a lawsuit by survivors; a 1996 shooting of his father by Kurt Danysh while on Prozac; or the horrible case of a mother one town over from where I currently live, Naperville, IL., who killed all five of her children while on antidepressant Effexor. The case of the Virginia Tech murder of 32 people by Cho Seung-Hui may also have been prescription drug related, too, as Kupelian discusses in this article. As if further evidence were needed, the Luvox label itself states that 4% of children in one study went manic – out of control behavior.

To what degree is the “prozac-ing” and “ritalin-ing” of our young contributing to these shootings? As noted above, these prescriptions state on their warning labels that violent behavior is one possible outcome of taking their drugs. Yet, there is nary a peep from the media. Why? Jason Charles the Truth Alliance notes “At least fourteen recent school shootings were committed by those taking or withdrawing from psychiatric drugs. There have been 109 wounded and 58 killed. Of these 14, seven were seeing either a psychiatrist (five of them) or psychologist (two of them). It is not known whether or not the other half were seeing a psychiatrist, as it has not been published." Details of this issue are at CCHR, http://www.cchrint.org/school-shooters/ )
